technorati

technorati functions as a blog journal, following a list of registered blogs and sorting out the most popular. It keeps track of blog updates and allows users to follow certain favorited blogs of interest.

counters and rss

counters are a good way to track the amount of hits a webpage receives. this means you can understand how popular your webpage is and potentially target a specific audience.

i added a counter from easy hit counters.
my athene page has a dragon on it so i googled dragon counters and i found one!!!!!!

Rss feeds are great for recieving ubtates on webpages updated regularly.

ftp and athene

Creating an Athene account has allowed me to understand the basics of an ftp server. Iweb was an easy way to very quickly create a simple website that can be published fully prepared to upload onto fetch.

Summary

To summerise...

So far in this subject i have learnt how user friendly the internet can be, and how it can be customised the the individual web user. Google came as a big suprise, provoving to be more than just a search engine. Social networking, images and video sharing, email and online mapping are possible through its services, providing the most populer search engine with extras that make google usefull as well as handy.

Flickr opens up a new world of photo sharing, with its online community embracing the sites abbility to get amature photos out on the internet for otheres who are generally interested. It also provides a good way to host images.

Althouh obsolete, basic HTML skills have allowed me to understand the basis of the internet and web page creation. This has worked its way into CSS, which can be worked into sites such as blogger that allow the user to create basic templates to improve the asthetics of their page, without altering content.

Delicious is a great tool for storing web bookmarks that are available wherever the internet can be accesed.

Templates

Templates are an easy way to costomise the look of your page without fiddling around with the actual CSS code. Blogger provides a few nice, simple to apply ones. I like the fact that Blogger also allows you to change the CSS within the page if you want to, letting you make it look like more of your own.

This makes blogger a well desighned, accsesable web page. This is important because the majority of internet users will be able to work with the functional interface.
